Elise Hamann – United States
My name is Elise Hamann. I am American, but I have lived in Rabat, Morocco longer than I have lived anywhere else in the US. Morocco has a special place in my heart and I feel so lucky to have had the opportunity to live and study there. Here at DU, I study International Relations and French at the Joseph Korbel School of International Studies. I have also been a co-founder of a small startup called Cases on Cue here on campus for my Entrepreneurship minor. I am involved in a community service organization here on campus called Alpha Phi Omega where we go around Denver and participate in different community service events. My favorite one is volunteering at Casa de Paz, a center for migrants to re-assimilate into the US. I love Denver because it is the BEST mix of the perks of being in a city with incredible nature surrounding us! I am so excited to chat with you about coming to the University of Denver!

Jakub Drobek – Poland
Cześć! My name is Jakub. I am a second-year international student majoring in Physics with a double minor in Math and Computer Science at the University of Denver. I was born in a small town and grew up in the third largest city in Poland – Wroclaw. I am currently involved with the Ski Team. I have not been here for a long time but I am eager to get new experience and share it with you guys! I love to ski, swim and recently I started to box. Since I grew up in Poland, like most kids there I have spent my afternoons and weekends playing soccer. I was always good with languages, I started to learn Russian when I was 6, then came French and four years ago I started learning Czech. Coming to DU has been a great adventure for me and I can’t wait to see what is still ahead of me. If you want to ask me any questions or just chat – don’t hesitate!

Ronnie Cheng – Hong Kong
大家好! My name is Ronnie, and I am a second-year international student from Hong Kong, studying Media Studies and minoring in Biological Sciences and English. I am currently involved in Project DU FILM where we work with professional filmmaking alumni and faculty to create a short film every year. At the moment, I am a Production Assistant (PA) for the entire production, as well as the Production Design department where I help with props.
Other than working at the Office of International Admission, I am also a Resident Assistant (RA) here at DU so I help students in any way that I can to ensure their health and safety. Denver is very different from Hong Kong, so I have thoroughly enjoyed experiencing life in a different environment. Feel free to reach out to me if you’d like to chat or ask questions about coming to DU!

Tam Nguyen – Vietnam
Xin Chao!!!! My name is Tam. I am a sophomore transfer student from the Community College of Denver, majoring in Applied Computing Science at the University of Denver. I have always felt blessed to be born and to have grown up in Saigon city, which is the biggest city in Vietnam. Like most of the boys growing up in Vietnam, we’re obsessed with the “real football”, and by this I mean soccer. I even cried when my favorite team, Liverpool FC, won the UEFA Champion League in 2019. Just so you know, I am very emotional about soccer, especially whenever my team is playing. Besides being a soccer fan, I am also a big book-lover. I can read everyday and utilize every single second of my free time to appreciate the knowledge in books. Most of the things I know are from books, and I am proud to be a self-learner. Books are like the best teachers I have ever had. I am also the founder of my spiritual child – dsaigon.com – a website selling nicely-designed canvas at an affordable price for college students. One last thing, I love travelling to new places.

Georgia Kyriacou – Scotland, UK
Hi! I’m Georgia, and I’m an international student who’s spending my year abroad at the University of Denver. I’m originally from the UK- specifically Scotland, and I study Business at the University of Glasgow. Denver is quite a bit different to where I’m from in both weather and personality, so I’ve enjoyed my learning experience of being here. I love ice-hockey and crime podcasts mostly, but I also enjoy exploring what natural beauty Colorado has to offer (a lot!) and getting involved with ethics initiatives like Volunteers for America.
I’m an aspiring ethics fellow at Daniels College of Business, and am taking part in the legal case competition and ethics boot camp leader programme. So, you can talk to me about getting involved academically and socially! I’m open to questions about anything, as I asked so many when I was getting ready for my exchange here.
