Good morning friends!
My name is Victoria Pereira, I am a Junior at DU. I am majoring in International Studies, minoring in Italian, and started my Masters of Social Work (MSW). I’m going to take you all along with me on an extra busy Tuesday! Remember, if you have any questions please don’t hesitate to reach out to any of our ambassadors.
I woke up at 5:00 am today because I was participating in a student panel for prospective students. I got to answer questions about DU, such as, what my favorite study place is, why I chose DU, etc.
After that, I went to my first class at 10:00 am, International Futures, at the Josef Korbel School of International Studies. International Futures (IF) is a forecasting model created by the Pardee Center here at DU.
My second class of the day was in Sturm Hall, it was an Italian class. We talked about the book we are reading and finished the movie we started last class. It is a beautiful language but what I love the most about Italian at DU is the language department. All the professors are patient and love what they do! I am one class away from finishing my Italian minor.
I am part of the Panhellenic Executive Board and we have our weekly meetings on Tuesdays. I rushed to the Academic Commons since I only had 10 minutes in between my class and my meeting. The Academic Commons is the newest building on campus, there is a dining hall on the top floor, study rooms, club rooms, and the advising office.
After my meeting, I went to the Library to get some homework done. The Library has a cafe inside it, The Front Porch Cafe, they sell ramen and fresh sushi they made daily. I grabbed sushi and got a lot done in a distraction-free environment!
My sorority, Delta Delta Delta, is fundraising for a domestic violence shelter in the Denver area. So I decided to go to Target and buy a few items the shelter needed and then I dropped the items off at the house. DU has many opportunities to volunteer and give back to the community, I love to hear about how many people on campus volunteer at community organizations or start fundraisers. It is a community of great people!
I could finally go home! I went on a walk with my dog (pictured below), the leaves on the trees are changing color, and the air is crisp. Fall is finally here! Then, I made some dinner, worked on homework, and went to bed!
College is a busy time, but it is a wonderful time! You will learn how to manage your time, get involved in things you are passionate about, and meet amazing people. Don’t hesitate to reach out to our team if you have any questions!
